Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Ralph Northam announcing Monday that Virginia Beach and First Landing State Park will be open for beachgoers this Friday, ahead of Memorial Day Weekend. The annoncement comes despite the coronavirus pandemic, and despite the fact pictures showed a crowded beach last weekend, when Virginia Beach was supposed to be closed to all but exercise and fishing.
Virginia Beach is planning to use "ambassadors" and cut parking in half, in hopes of limiting corwds. They also plan a great deal of cleaning as well.
Northam says if crowds swarm, he will not hesitate to re-close the beaches.
