(RICHMOND, Va.) -- Governor Northam says that Virginia has received its first shipment of Personal Protective Equipment (or PPE) for hospitals including masks, gowns and gloves from the national stockpile.

Northam says they're expecting another shipment next week. The amount of ventilators continue to be a problem and the governor says that there still is a need for them and they're working to find sources to supply those. Northam says that the state's economic development team is working contacts with private companies.

Some companies have even donated supplies.

The state's public and private sectors are being creative. For example, a couple of distilleries in the state are making hand sanitizer. Dr. Daniel Carey, the Secretary of Health and Human Resources, says that they are casting their net wide to get good medical-grade equipment.

There are currently 290 Coronavirus cases in the state.
