On Tuesday evening, the Pentagon confirmed Iran had fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles at U.S. forces in Iraq in retaliation for the death of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.
The strikes were aimed at two bases in particular - the al-Assad airbase in western Iraq and Erbil in northern Iraq - and began around 5:30 p.m. Eastern time. Iran claimed the attacks were part of Shahid (martyr) Soleimani Operation." The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) took credit for the strikes.
