After months of silence on the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee, former President Barack Obama finally gave his endorsement to his former Vice President, Joe Biden on Tuesday.
Obama made his announcement in a video message released on the Biden campaign's YouTube channel Tuesday afternoon.
He said, "I believe Joe has all the qualities we need in a president right now. He’s someone whose own life has taught him how to persevere."
He added, "The world is different. There’s too much unfinished business for us to just look backwards. We have to look to the future. Bernie (Sanders) understands that and Joe understands that."
With Obama's backing, it's almost certain Biden will be the nominee for the Democrats. But why did Barack wait until there were no remaining candidates to endorse? If he truly believes in Joe that much, why not endorse him earlier?
Was this Obama giving his endorsement, or simply him giving in?
