CBS apparently didn't want to hear any good news about the U.S. economy following the stock market rally on Wednesday.
In the wake of the markets rising due to a potential breakthrough in coronavirus treatment with the drug Remdesivir, the "CBS Evening News" did everything it could to stifle any hope people might have about opening the economy.
Anchor Norah O'Donnell led off by saying, "But even as the market rises, the economy is in a tailspin. New numbers out today reveal the GDP, that’s the broadest measure of the nation's output, fell for the first time in six years."
Trump-hating White House correspondent Weijia Jiang then stepped in and poured more water on the fire, criticizing President Trump for his positive outlook on reopening: "President Trump is brushing off those numbers saying he can feel a pent-up demand to stimulate the economy, so he's looking ahead to the fourth quarter."
She added, "President Trump offered an optimistic forecast for the U.S. economy...But that does not match the dire conditions on the ground."
