During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Harvard Law professor emeritus and President Trump defense team member Alan Dershowitz pushed back against criticism that a lack of witnesses would "taint" the result.

Host Chris Wallace played a video clip of Sens. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Kamala Harris (D-CA) bemoaning the vote to not call additonal witnesses, calling it a "cover up" and claiming the president cannot be acquitted without a trial.

Dershowitz responded by saying the president can be acquitted without a trial because he was not charged with a legitimate crime and blaming House Democrats for not bringing an actual impeachable offense to the case.

Dershowitz said, "Of course, you can be acquitted if you don’t have a trial. If they don’t charge you with a legitimate crime. It’s the fault of Nancy Pelosi and others for failing to charge an impeachable offense."
