Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) repeated the false claim at the Democratic Debate Tuesday night that she was fired from her first teaching job because she was pregnant.
Warren said, "By the end of the first year, I was visibly pregnant. The principal wished me luck and gave my job to someone else. Pregnancy discrimination? You bet."
Warren has been standing behind this claim since 2019, but numerous pieces of evidence have shown that her story is thoroughly untrue. Several reports have revealed Warren's departure from her first teaching job was voluntary, and the Democratic presidential candidate even said in a 2007 interview that she had chosen to leave her job on her own accord.
