A renowned epidemiologist has a different take on how to combat the coronavirus: have people go outside.
Knut Wittkowski, the former head of the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design at the Rockefeller University in New York City, says that the widespread lockdowns in the U.S. are actually prolonging the novel virus rather than slowing the spread.
During an interview with the Press and the Public Project, Wittkowski asserted that the disease could be "exterminated" if we allowed most healthy people to go about their lives as usual and kept the more vulnerable members protected, such as elderly people and those with pre-existing medical conditions.
