Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) did a complete 180 on Thursday after telling protesters in Michigan to wear masks and remain six feet apart. Later that same day, she was seen on video violating her own order.
Later that day, Whitmer joined protesters in downtown Detroit speaking out against the killing of George Floyd. Video shows her marching with a large group of people chanting "Hands up don't shoot" and "This is what democracy looks like."
Although she is wearing a cloth mask, Whitmer is standing much closer than six feet to those in the crowd. In fact, she can be seen standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Bishop Charles Ellis and Lt. Gov. Garland Gilchrist.
Whitmer press consultant Chris Meagher also shared a photo on Twitter of the governor standing in a mass of people, who, along with her, are violating her own orders.
