JetBlue Airways became the first U.S. airline to require passengers to wear a face mask during their flights, beginning on May 4.
In a statement released on Monday, President and Chief Operating Officer Joanna Geraghty said, "We are also asking our customers to follow these CDC guidelines in the airport as well. Wearing a face covering isn’t about protecting yourself; it’s about protecting those around you."
Passengers will also receive an email reminding them to wear a mask in the airport while waiting for their flights. Crew members will also be required to wear a mask. Small children who cannot keep a mask on are exempt from the rule.
