House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) suggested during an interview that the Democrat National Committee (DNC) cancel the remaining primaries and debates and name Joe Biden the nominee.
Clyburn, who endorsed the former vice president before the South Carolina primaries, threw out the idea while interviewing with NPR on Tuesday. The congressman claimed that if Biden were to beat Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in Michigan and several other crucial primaries, the race would be over and the DNC should "step in."
Clyburn said, "I think when the night is over, Joe Biden will be the prohibitive favorite to win the Democratic nomination. If the night ends the way it has begun, I think it is time for us to shut this primary down. It is time for us to cancel the rest of these debates."
