Former Vice President Joe Biden threw out a major whopper at Tuesday night's Democratic debate in Charleston, South Carolina, claiming that 150 million Americans have been killed by gun violence since 2007.
While attempting to attack Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Biden wildly exaggerated gun violence statistics to prove a point.
Biden said, "Imagine if I stood here and said we give immunity to drug companies, we give immunity to tobacco companies. That has caused carnage on our streets!"
He added, "A hundred and fifty million people have been killed since 2007, when Bernie voted to exempt the gun manufacturers from liability! More than all the wars, including Vietnam, from that point on!"
For reference, 150 million is about half the population of the United States, which would mean that half the country has been killed in the last decade by gun violence.
