Judge Slaps Down Citizen's Request To Reopen His Business

A Virginia circuit court judge has rejected a petition from a local gym owner who wanted to reopen his facilities despite an executive order from Gov. Ralph Northam requiring the closures of fitness centers and other "non-essential" businesses.

At a telephone hearing on Thursday, Circuit Court Judge Claude Worrell ruled that Virginia law gives the governor broad powers to issue executive orders during a public health crisis.
