Millions Of Reasons To Keep Dangerous Cars Off The Road

Gov. Ralph Northam has proposed eliminating the requirement for vehicles in Virginia to undergo an annual safety inspection and changing it to once every two years, but important data may slow that down.

According to the Virginia State Police, nearly 20 percent of the 8.2 million vehicles inspected in Virginia in 2018 had a defect that required immediate repair or a resulted in a failed inspection. In total, the inspection requirements forced repairs for 1.6 millions vehicles that year.
