The Oakland Unified School District abolished its in-house police force Wednesday night at a school board meeting, appeasing the demands of the far left-wing protesters and the Black Lives Matter movement.
The decision comes as nationwide calls to defund or abolish the police have grown exponentially from activists and even Democrat lawmakers.
A similar proposal was put before the Los Angeles Unified School District on Tuesday night, but the board voted it down. In San Francisco, the school board voted to cut ties with city police.
