Democrats Move To Take Down Confederate Monuments

A bill that would give Virginia localities authority to control over Confederate monuments passed in the Virginia Senate and House on Tuesday.

According to WTVR, SB 183 states that a locality may "remove, relocate, or alter any monument or memorial for war veterans located in its public space, regardless of when erected."

The current state law allows localities to erect monuments but prohibits them from removing them or changing them in any way. Local governments are also prohibited from moving the monuments or adding any description explaining their origins.
