During his opening monologue at the 2020 Golden Globes awards Sunday night, "The Office" creator Ricky Gervais unloaded on the Hollywood elite and chided them for making political statements during acceptance speeches.

Gervais told the crowd at the Beverly Hilton, "So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a political platform to make a political speech. You're in no position to lecture the public about anything, you know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So, if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your God and f**k off. OK?"

He also bashed the group for their hypocrisy while commenting on Apple TV being added to the list of qualifiers. While pointing out the irony of a show centered around the #MeToo movement like Apple's "The Morning Show" that was "made by a company who runs sweatshops in China," Gervias said, "You say you're woke, but … if ISIS started a streaming service you’d call your agent."
