The Virginia Parole Board has granted parole to a Roanoke man who received three life sentences plus more than 100 years in prison for his role in a deadly home invasion spree in 1986, according to The Roanoke Times.

Tyson Xavier Golden, now 55, was granted parole by the board in January after 33 years in jail. The decision was finalized March 30, and Golden was released from custody April 3.

Golden and two other men were charged for carrying out three violent home invasions in Roanoke in December 1986 that resulted in Larry White, 91, being beaten to death. White and his 87-year-old sister, Maggie Spinner, were attacked and robbed in their apartment on Essex Avenue. White was struck three times with the butt of a pistol, which fractured his skull and killed him.
