Two Lynchburg police officers were injured during protests that turned violent on Monday night in the city.
According to the Lynchburg Police Department, the officers were responding to the intersection of Fifth and Federal Streets to deal with a group or rioters. When they arrived, the group threw rocks at them and assaulted them.
One of the officers was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
