Gun sales in Virginia jumped an astonishing 157 percent during the month of June amid coronavirus concerns and fears over protests and riots, as well as the growth of gun control under Gov. Ralph Northam.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, there were 81,204 firearms transactions in the month of June, a 157 percent increase from June 2019.

The June numbers also set a record for the most firearm transactions in a single month since the Virginia State Police began tracking such data in 1990.

The Times-Dispatch also reports that there were 410,493 gun transactions in the Commonwealth from January 2020 through June 2020, which is only 74,000 short of the number of transactions conducted in all of 2019.
