President Trump Tells The Truth About Abortion And The Washington Post Can't Handle It

The so-called "fact checker" for the Washington Post decided to call out President Trump this week for a statement he made nearly two months ago on late-term abortions.

At a campaign rally in Charlotte, NC on March 2, the president said of the Democratic presidential field, "Virtually every Democrat candidate has declared their unlimited support for extreme late-term abortion, ripping babies straight from the mother’s womb, right up until the very moment of birth."

But Salvador Rizzo gives this statement three "Pinocchios," calling it "visceral and deceptive." However, Rizzo does not exactly address Trump's point about the candidates - which was true. Instead, he moves the goal post and attacks the president for pointing out that late-term abortions are allowed.

From Rizzo:

We keep adding it to our database of everything false or misleading from Trump, but the claim is so visceral and deceptive that it deserves its own fact check.
Most abortions are performed in the earlier stages of pregnancy. About 1 percent happen after the fetus reaches the point of viability. In short, the president is describing something that rarely happens and that no Democrat is calling for anyway.

"Rarely happens"? The Centers for Disease Control reported 623,471 abortions in 2016, so one percent of that would still be more than 6,200 late-term abortions.
