Petersburg, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Two teenagers are in custody after leading police on a chase through Prince George, Hopewell, and Petersburg.
Police say it began with an attempted traffic stop of a stolen car in Prince George. The suspect vehicle finally stopped when it struck a state police vehicle on Crater Road in Petersburg.
“The suspect’s vehicle continued into Hopewell, where another stop was attempted by Hopewell Police, but the vehicle again refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated,” Virginia State Police said. “The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle, which was heading the wrong way down Crater Road, struck the left front bumper of a State Police vehicle, attempting to stop traffic.”
The 14-year-old girl who was driving and a 16-year-old male passenger fled on foot, but both were taken into custody with the assistance of police K-9 units.
State police say the girl was wanted for auto theft charges in Petersburg. She was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out.
