Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - AAA is projecting a record-breaking 3.3 million Virginians will travel over the coming weeks – the highest volume in more than two decades.
Nearly 90% of travelers will be hitting the roadways. Those driving to and from their holiday destination will find that the pain at the pumps has eased.
AAA says the average gas price in the Richmond metro on Friday, Dec. 20 is $2.86 a gallon, which is six cents lower than a week ago and off 18 cents compared to this time last month. The statewide average is $2.88 a gallon, and the national average is currently $3.05 a gallon.
Drivers will experience the worst holiday traffic delays the weekends before Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, according to AAA. Below are a few ways to check traffic conditions in Virginia and neighboring states:
