Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A State Senate subcommittee rejected multiple abortion restrictions Friday morning, an indication any bans will not make it through the General Assembly this session. Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) requested a ban after 15 weeks in his State of the Commonwealth last week.

The sub-committee of the Senate Health Committee rejected bans that began at conception, at 15-weeks, and at the end of the second trimester.
The committee heard testimony on both side of the debate, and looked into the issue for about an hour.

Abortion is expected to be an election issue this fall when the entire General Assembly is up for election. Abortion restrictions became less likely to pass earlier this month when Democrats increased their majority with the election of Senator Aaron Rouse (D-Virginia Beach).
