Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Anne Holton, former Virginia First Lady and wife of Tim Kaine, on Monday endorsed Levar Stoney as Virginia’s next Lieutenant Governor.
In a video posted on X, Holton said:
“Levar has made historic investments that have resulted in remarkable progress on our city schools, he’s invested in replacing crumbling infrastructure – particularly in our brown and black communities. He’s helped establish pathways to community college for RPS graduates. He’s helped create summer programs for employment for our young people. I know he will take that commitment to every student’s success to his role as Virginia’s Lieutenant governor.”
Stoney added that he looks forward to working with Holton to “protect public education and give every Virginian a fair shot at success.” Holton served as the Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth from 2014 to 2016.
Stoney announced he would be running for Lieutenant Governor back in April, saying he believed it would be the best way to avoid a "costly and damaging primary" and ensure that Virginia families "get the change they deserve."
