Richmond, VA (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Richmond Police are investigating the presence of racial vandalism that occurred at the Arthur Ashe mural that's located at the tunnel that goes under Overbrook Road at Battery Park in northside. Police say that it happened sometime between late Wednesday night and mid morning on Thursday. Police say they got the call for the vandalism at about 10:42 Thursday morning.
As part of the vandalism was the symbol for Patriot Front, which is a white supremacist group. A man who lives near the park says that this isn't the first time that a symbol for the group has been spotted in the area. The man, who did not wish to be identified, says that 'PF'(Patriot Front) stickers had been seen on the back of street signs and on light poles around the area for a few months now.
Richmond Police are looking for anybody who has information on what happened. You can call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000 or you can use the P3 Tips Crime Stoppers app. As of now, police have not identified any suspects.
