Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia's Vaccine Coordinator, Dr. Danny Avula, anticipates being able to start offering covid vaccines to 5 to 11 year olds by Halloween. Pfizer announced Monday that lower doses of its vaccines work in kids in those age ranges.
Avula says they expect to use both mass vaccination sites and schools to get kids vaccinated. He says he understands both the schools and peditricians are under a lot of stress right now dealing with Covid, with cases up and doctor's offices busy.
Avula says it should take into January to those of the 730,000 who want the vaccine vaccinated. Avula also anticipates using mass vaccination sites for boosters for the elderly as well.
