Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - NBC12 Meteorologist Andrew Freiden says the Richmond area is unlikely to get black ice overnight, even though the roads are wet from today's rain. Freiden says there will be a breeze, and temperatures should remain above freezing, preventing ice formation. Freiden says there is a slight possibility to our west in Fluvanna and Louisa Counties, areas that did receive a glancing blow of ice today.
Because of the storm, schools in Fluvanna and Louisa Counties were closed on Thursday. Further to the west, on the other side of mountains, there was a wintery mix and some traffic accidents.
Freiden does warn that it will turn cold the closer we get to Christmas, and that he cannot rule out snow around that time as well.
