Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - It’s race week here in Richmond – but Tropical Storm Debby has led to the cancellation of all pre-race activities through 4 p.m. on Friday.
Appearances by the Budweiser Clydesdales have been rescheduled for Saturday at the Flying Squirrels game and Sunday at Colonial Downs.
The Budweiser Clydesdales were originally slated to appear in both Richmond and New Kent County at three different events between Thursday, Aug 8, and Saturday, Aug. 10 to celebrate 14 years of partnership with the non-profit Folds of Honor.
“As we continue to monitor Tropical Storm Debby, all our appearances are weather dependent to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the Clydesdales,” organizers said in the update.
The main event is the Cook Out 400 Cup race, which is set for Sunday evening at Richmond Raceway. Organizers encourage attendees to monitor the weather and check for updates on social media.
“The projected rainfall from Tropical Storm Debby may force motorists to reroute their entry to Richmond Raceway this weekend,” event officials said on Facebook. “We encourage the fans and industry to monitor the following Henrico County handles on social media for the latest road closures and updates.”
