Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- The Richmond Office of Elections has announced that they have been authorized to put a casino referendum back on the ballot.

Richmond already voted on a casino in 2021, but on election day this year the issue will be back up for referendum. The casino vote's place on the ballot in Richmond has been a source of controversy for several years now. Mayor Levar Stoney has been consistently vocal in his support for a casino on the Southside, while others -- like state Senator Joe Morrisey and Delegate Kim Taylor -- think a major development like this would better suit Petersburg.

The proposed casino would be built at the intersection of Walmsley and Trenton. Virginia's general election day is November 7th.
