Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Supporters of the proposed Richmond Casino have conceded defeat in the city's referendum. The CEO of Urban One, which was behind the project, says he accepts the will of the City of Richmond residents.

CEO Alfred Liggins also calls it a "huge missed oppotunity," which he believes would have brought in financial resources for schools and roads. He says they worked hard to build a large and inclusive tent to try and get the project through.

The casino's strongest support, ironically, was in South Richmond, where it would have been located. Its greatest opposition was in the West End.
