Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond Police Department is searching for a suspect who allegedly doused a cat with accelerant and intentionally set it on fire.

The incident took place at around 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the 4100 block of Richmond Highway.


According to Richmond Animal Care and Control, the cat died at the scene and was found to have second and third-degree burns over 60% of its body.

“We are waiting on further forensic results and need your help finding the person(s) responsible for this horrific act of cruelty,” RACC said.

“Video surveillance is posted on our RACC Medical Pics page (WARNING-GRAPHIC), and we are looking for any/all information about the individual pictured,” the shelter said. “This is a heartbreaking and senseless act of violence and we hope you can help us.”
