Charlottesville, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Charlottesville City Council has decided to send the city's recently removed Stonewall Jackson statue to California. It comes amid a controversy over the fate of the city's Robert E. Lee statue.

The Jackson statue will be part of an exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibit will recontextualize the statue and the "Lost Cause" narrative. Charlottesville is receiving $50,000 for it.

The city recently chose to give the Lee statue to an organization in the Charlottesville-area that plans to melt it and turn it into new art. The decision has run into opposition from other groups and politicans.
