Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Senate Commerce and Labor Committee has rejected a bill from State Senator Amanda Chase (R-Chesterfield) that would have barred employers from requiring the Covid-19 vaccine. The defeat, one of several Chase has had this session regarding Covid, vaccines, and treatments.

Chase argued the issue was one of "bodily autonomy." However, Senator Adam Ebbin (D-Alexandria) says employers have the right not to employ people they believe are at greater risk of catching or spreading disease. The U.S. Supreme Court has struck down federal mandates requiring large employers to mandate the vaccine, but this does not mean companies cannot do it on their own.

The committee has an overwhelming Democratic majority.
