Chesterfield, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - State Senator Amanda Chase (R-Chesterfield), who lost a narrow primary Tuesday night to former State Senator Glenn Sturtevant (R-Chesterfield), is fundraising right now to challenge her Primary Day loss. Chase won the Primary Day vote, but lost to Sturtevant in early voting, and in absentee voting. The Republican is questioning the certification of the early voting machines in Chesterfield, although even if those machines were removed from the total, Chase would still trail.
Chase has previously attempted to do away with early voting, as well as other efforts to make voting easier. She also previously has alleged, without proof, fraud in the 2020 election. An audit of the 2020 election here in Virginia found no issues.
The current margin in the election is above the amount where Chase could ask for a recount.
