Chesterfield, Va (Newsradiowrva.com) - A two-vehicle crash killed one and left another dead in Chesterfield County this morning. At about 7 o'clock, a 2007 Honda Civic was speeding westbound on Midlothian Turnpike and encountered a Ford F-150 up ahead. The Honda made contact with the F-150 and pushed both vehicles to the right, forcing them off the road.

The Honda struck a power pole, and its driver was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the F-150's passengers was injured in the crash, and was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sergeant Stephan Rouze said this was the fifth fatal crash investigated by Chesterfield Police in August alone. Speeding, according to Rouze, is by far the leading cause of fatal collisions like this one. Chesterfield Police are asking drivers to slow down, obey posted speed limits, and to call 804-748-1251 if they witnessed the incident or can provide further details about the crash.
