Midlothian, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Chesterfield firefighters say a fire Monday evening at the old Oasis Sports Park was arson. Firefighters took about 30 minutes to put out the blaze near Cosby High School. Captain Joe Harvey says there were multiple fires in an large maintenance building on the site.
Harvey says the multiple fires, plus other evidence, points towards arson. The site is relatively remote, so investigators are asking for the public's help. Harvey says there were some access issues getting to the fire, and it could have spread if not caught when it did.
Oasis closed in 2019 and is currently being redeveloped.
