Chesterfield, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Chesterfield Schools will be hosting a Bus Driver Job Fair this evening from 4pm-8pm. The fair will take place at Manchester Middle School, which is located on Hull Street Road not far from the Chippenham Parkway.

The fair comes one month into a school year marked by delays and long lines. The district began the school year 100 drivers down. Superintendent Merv Daugherty actually asked parents to drive their kids because of the shortage, which in turn, created long pickup and drop-off lines.

Shortly after the start of the year, the county and the district both agreed to increase pay and bonuses to try and attract drivers. Driver now make over $20 an hour. Parents still complain on social media about delays, however.
