Prince William County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A North Chesterfield man has now been charged with felony abduction following the shootout with Virginia State Police that left 1 dead. It is possible that other charges may be pending, since he also allegedly fired on State Police officers.

On the night of Wednesday, April 5, Michael Davis was fleeing several police cars on Interstate 95 when he crashed on the side of the highway. It was then, according to State Police, that Davis -- still in the driver's seat -- began shooting. In the gunfight that followed, Davis suffered life threatening injuries. No police officers were hurt.

Police were apprehending Davis for the alleged kidnapping of Tatiana David, 34, of Ithaca, NY. When Davis stopped shooting, police were able to pull both him and David from the vehicle, where they say they began rendering first aid. Tatiana David was pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsy results have not yet been released to conclusively identify who shot the rounds that killed her.

Davis has been receiving treatment in a northern Virginia hospital. All officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave.
