Arrest Made in Chesterfield Grad Party Fatal Shooting

Suspect Is 18 Year-Old from Hopewell

Chesterfield County, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Chesterfield Police have arrested a suspect in relation to the fatal shooting that occurred Friday night at a house on Stepney Road north of Thomas Dale High School.

Chesterfield Police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested 18 year-old Andre Coleman of Hopewell. He is charged with second-degree murder, attempted malicious wounding and two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Coleman was arrested in Richmond and is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.

Last Friday night, police responded to the area of Stepney Road and Weybridge Road for a report of shots fired. During the course of the investigation, police determined a total of six people were shot, including 20 year-old Taborri Carter of Chesterfield. Two others suffered non-firearm related injuries. At this point, the investigation indicates more than 50 shots were fired at the scene.

At this point, the investigation indicates that neither Carter nor Coleman were members of a high school graduating class in Chesterfield this year.
