Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Chesterfield voting officials are giving voters a heads up that the tabulation of voting results may take slightly longer this year.
Not only is this year's ballot the longest and most complicated in the four-year cycle, officials are now required to report in-person and by-mail absentee voting by precinct -- adding to processing times.
Just how long it will take for the machine to tabulate the thousands of votes that have been run through it during the early voting window remains to be seen. But Chesterfield County General Registrar Missy Vera promises that the county will report the results as soon as they get them.
"We are going to do our best to report the results as soon as we get those, so I just ask for everybody's patience," says Vera. "We want the results as quickly as everybody else does."
