Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - At a meeting Tuesday evening, Chesterfield County school leaders will talk about security and will consider adding weapons scanners to school buildings.

This comes a week after a student stabbed a classmate with a knife at Meadowbrook High School.

The scanners are part of security measures in place at schools in Henrico and Richmond. Chesterfield is one of the few major school divisions in central Virginia without a weapons scanner or detection system.

At Tuesday's meeting, the school division will meet with neighboring school divisions with weapons scanners to discuss how they are implemented and who would man them.

The school board will have a work session at 4 p.m. Tuesday and then an official business meeting at 6:30 p.m.
