Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The controversy over Governor Glenn Youngkin's (R) decision to stop pursuit of a battery plant for Southside has now reached the House of Delegates. Youngkin stopped pursuit of the plant in December, over concern of Ford Motor Company's association with a Chinese company on this plant. Youngkin argues the plant was a potential front for the Chinese Communist Party.

The plant could have meant 2,500 jobs for Pittsylvania County, one of Virginia's most struggling localities. Delegate David Reid (D-Loudoun) says Youngkin should go to Southside and hold a town hall to explain his decision.

There have been suggestions that Youngkin is getting tough on China to bolster a potential Presidential run. Youngkin recently banned Tik Tok on state devices and systems, and asked lawmakers to ban Chinese purchases of Virginia farmland, although there is no evidence of that happening.
