Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond’s Economic Development Authority is seeking proposals to rehab or redevelop the Intermediate Terminal Building on East Main Street on the waterfront.

The nearly 90-year-old building is in disrepair and is being touted as prime riverfront real estate next to Rockett’s Landing, the Riverfront Pulse, and Capital Trail. Built in 1938, it was originally a warehouse facility for the storage of raw sugar, sand, gravel, gas, and oil, among other items.

“This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of Richmond’s riverfront,” said Interim CAO Sharon Ebert. “With direct access to the James River, a vast and thriving trail network, access to multi-modal transportation, and close proximity to City economic and cultural hubs in Shockoe Bottom and Downtown, the ITB offers a unique blend of a number of our City’s most exciting attractions.”

Plans must be submitted by Aug. 28. More information on submission guidelines and evaluation criteria can be found here.
