Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Concerns about major tidal flooding in Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore are lessening. NBC12 Meteorologist Nick Russo says the wind is coming from a more northerly, as compared to easterly direction, meaning less water is being driven on land.

Originally, there was a concern that the low pressure system that grew out of Hurricane Ian, plus a high pressure system near New England, were going to push water onto land, especially at high tide. NBC12 Meteorologist Andrew Freiden says combined with rising seas from climate change and land subsidence, coastal areas are going to see more flooding in the future.

The set-up is also responsible for Richmond's chilly weather Monday through Wednesday, with highs not expected to get out of the 50s.
