Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Community College System could be increasing tuition as well for next year. The State Board that makes those decisions is considering everything from holding the line at no increase to a nearly five percent increase.
Normally, the Board would be making its decision in May. However, because the General Assembly still has not made any decisions on budget amendments, they have postponed it until July. The General Assembly actually does not have to pass any budget amendments, but right now, they plan to after seeing whatever happens with the debt ceiling.
The system, like colleges across the Commonwealth, is facing pressure from mandatory raises and inflation.
