Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Chesterfield County leaders tonight will allow community members to voice comments and ask questions about the new high school coming to the Western part of the county.

The yet-to-be-named school will be at the intersection of Otterdale and Duval Roads at 17600 Duval Road. It will house 2,400 students and is expected to open in Fall of 2027.

Cosby High in Western Chesterfield is currently at 130% capacity, and school crowding has been a hot topic of late for county leaders and parents.

In addition to hearing questions from the community, the county says the purpose of the meeting will also be to ensure that a new public high school proposed at its respective location aligns with the county’s comprehensive plan.

“We’re trying to get caught up and build for the future capacity for the schools by working in conjunction with them to say, ‘Where do we need to put the schools based on the projected growth?'” said Matoaca District Supervisor Kevin Carroll.

The community meeting will be held March 20 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at Cosby High School.
