Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond-Henrico Health District Deputy Director Dr. Melissa Viray says there is concern about a rough flu season here. Flu was bad in Australia recently, and there is concern that because flu hasn't been very prevalent here the last few years that this year will be more difficult.

Flu cases were down the last few years because of the mitigation measures taken to combat Covid. Because of the flu concern this year, health officials are heavily pushing the flu vaccine.

Viray also says demand is lessening for the new Covid-19 booster, which she says is not surprising. Demand usually drops after the new booster or vaccine comes out, after the people who really want it get it. Viray says people can get both vaccines at the same time if they wish, and it is recommended before we get into the colder months.
