Washington, D.C. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Congressman Bob Good (R-5th) says he will not be backing Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) for Speaker. Scalise won a majority of Republicans in a caucus vote, but Scalise can only afford to lose a few Republican votes and still become House Speaker.
Good was one of the forces behind the ouster of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). In his statement, Good says "at some point we have to truly try and make change." He also says he is willing to wait a few days to get a House Speaker; to "try to save the country."
Good's district is located just to the west of Richmond.
