Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond-Henrico Health District's Amy Popovich says the district is seeing a small uptick in Covid cases. Cases hit their lowest level in mid-June, and have come up since then. Interestingly, more of the cases have been of the Alpha variant, out of the U.K., as compared to the more virulent Delta variant.

Popovich expects the Delta share to rise over time. Nationally, Delta is contributing to more cases. She says they are seeing cases especially from places where kids gether, so they continue to recommend vaccinating kids over the age of 12 and masks for those younger.

Popovich also says they will be closing their mass vaccination site at George Wythe High School on August 18th. The school will welcome back students a few weeks afterwards.
